People frequently get painless little bumps under the skin, called cysts. Skin cysts, also known as sebaceous cysts, can develop for many reasons — and sometimes for no obvious reason. Skin cysts are benign, or noncancerous, and they usually do not cause problems. They’re usually painless and nothing to worry about, unless they get sore or infected.
Sebaceous cysts form due to damaged or blocked sebaceous gland duct or due misshapen or deformed duct at birth.
Genetic conditions, such as Gardner’s syndrome or basal nevus syndrome leads to a sebaceous cyst.
Sebaceous cyst occurs due to trauma to the area, trauma may be scratch, surgical wound, or acne
